Director of Finance

Anupriya was born and raised in Australia, a nation renowned for its fusion of culture and diversity. Anupriya spent most her youth in Melbourne, the fashion capital of Australia, where this city’s unique myriad of people has cultivated distinctive trends in fashion and the arts. Raised in a world of designer labels and quirky independent boutiques, her fascination with fashion stems from both the world around her and the people in her life, namely her mother. Anupriya was brought up to be a ‘serious shopper’ with her fashion consciousness intimately shaped by her mother’s love of elaborate and lavish materials and designs. Into her 20’s the influences of uber-feminine and playful Australian designers such as Alannah Hill, Alex Perry, Sass & Bide and Zimmerman, and the Indian influences of her culture, brought out her inner desire for a life of practical elegance which fuelled her move to New York City five years ago. Since her move she has continued to pursue her love of distinctive styles, living life as an avid shopper and collector of unique handbags, shoes and clothes.

Anupriya’s professional interests have been quite contrary to her fashion obsession, in the world of accounting. Anupriya has worked in the Accounting Industry for over 12 years, starting at PricewaterhouseCoopers. At 17, she was selected to participate in the prestigious traineeship program at PwC, where she began her career. After moving to New York City she commenced working at a boutique accounting firm where she was able to expand her skill base and learn the U.S. tax system. Anupriya currently works for Marcum LLP, a midsized firm in New York City as a Tax Supervisor and specializes in taxation consulting and compliance for trust and estates, high net worth individuals and charitable organizations.

Whilst avidly pursing her professional career, Anupriya is also a travel and social enthusiast. In her youth she has been lucky enough to voyage across Europe, South East Asia, The U.S and Australia, and was selected to participate in an exchange student program that opened her eyes to the cultures of the world. As a New Yorker, she has been active in coordinating social events for friends and co-workers allowing them to explore and experience the cultural eccentricities of this great city she now calls home.

Anupriya is currently a member of the American Indian Foundation New York Young Professionals Board, where she has had the opportunity to pursue her passion for charity work and affection for India. As a member of the Finance Committee, she has been committed to raising funds and spreading awareness among young professionals regarding the importance of Indian NGOs dedicated to improving the lives of millions in the spheres of livelihood, public health, and education. The combined effort of the AIF NYYP Chapter rose over $130,000 this year.

Anupriya has a Bachelors of Business (Accountancy) from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and a Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. She continues to push herself within the industry, and aims to become an expert within her field. She believes working with the board for UCOF is a great avenue for combining her passion and talents, and looks forward to contributing to social, humanitarian and international development.
