2014 Achiever of the Year

Desiree Latoya Patton was born on Feb 29, 1984. The name Desiree, meaning “to be desired for,” is perfectly suited to her great compassion and enthusiasm for life.

Since childhood, she would always rummage through her aunt’s old jewelry and ask “do you have anything new?” This sparked a fascination early on for accessories, including the love of clothes, especially the pink kind.

Before graduation, she formulated the student organization, Pinkology. Pinkology believed in excellence, being positive, and being fabulous. All of this was associated around the concept of Pink – a metaphor for excellence. In addition, basketball was a career love for her as she tried out for the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Los Angeles Sparks.

Yet through it all, her love for fashion and accessories stood out. In 2009, she started her own company called Desiree’s Fashion Accessories, now known as Desiree by Design, “where service & style meet excellence!” She offers services in Image Consulting and select fashion designs, such as her vintage inspired, one of a kind fascinators and headbands.

Desiree is a graduate of The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) with a certification as an image consultant. She received her undergraduate at York College (City University of New York) in Business Administration. She is also a proud member of the United Colors of Fashion (UCOF).

Desiree believes all things are possible through Christ! Continue to look out for the name and follow the rising star, Desiree L. Patton.
