1. Ombré : If you could name your personal style what would it be? Bree: It’s so difficult to put a label or name on my style, because I feel like it is always changing and evolving as I grow. As of right now, I would probably title it “boho chic”. I am really into the whole ‘bohemian’ and ‘free spirited’ look, and I always have been. I think that now I am just really starting to figure out how I want to piece things together in order to achieve that look.

2. Ombré : Is there an interesting story with any staple piece that you’re wearing? Bree: I searched for the perfect pair of black skinny jeans for the longest time. When I finally found them, I was so excited to wear them that I didn’t heed the warning label that read “wash before wear because dye may rub off on other clothing”. I figured that since the rest of my outfit was centralized around dark colors, I would be fine if the black dye had rubbed off on it. After a very long day between classes, work, and meeting with friends, I got home to take a shower. When I took the jeans off, I was slightly horrified and shocked that the black dye had rubbed off on my legs…ALL OVER my legs. It was hilarious and embarrassing at the same time, because it took a few showers to get the dye completely off of my body. But from now on, I always wash my dyed jeans before I wear them.

3. Ombré: What’s your favorite piece in this photo and why? Bree: This year I have really fallen in love with the revival of ponchos. I have three of them in my closet, but the one in this photo is the most frequently worn. There’s just something about the effortlessly chic aspect that a poncho can add to a simple outfit that I adore.
4. Ombré: What’s an interesting fact we wouldn’t know by looking at this photo? Bree: My sister took these photos of me, and it had just been pouring rain and it was very cold outside. We sought out the opportunity to snap the pictures when we noticed there was a break between downpours, but right after we took the last picture, it started pouring again. I guess we had really good timing.

5. Ombré: What’s one trend you will never follow? Bree: I don’t know if this is a trend – or at least – it shouldn’t be. I see it around campus, a lot – and I think we all have. You know, the whole ‘running shorts and t-shirt’ fad? I understand wanting to be comfortable throughout classes, but I was never fond of the outfit idea. For me, fashion fuels my self -esteem and my confidence. If I look good, then I feel good. So, even if I do have an 8 AM class, I try my best to put together an outfit. I’ve never followed the trend of wearing running shorts and a t-shirt in public.
6. Ombré: How can UCOF Empower you through Fashion? Bree: By empowering youth through fashion, UCOF is empowering me. It is a great reminder that there are people in this world who are willing to help those without resources attain their dreams. The simple mission of UCOF empowers me, not only to be the best person that I can be, but also to strive for my dreams no matter what obstacles come my way.
