NEW YORK, NY (August 5, 2011) – As fashion gurus from around the globe are preparing to hit the ground running in the fashion capital of the world for the Spring 2012 Collections, United Colors of Fashion announces their Gala Soiree and International Fashion Spectacle to take place during the second day of NY Fashion Week: Friday, September 9th, 2011, at The Pierre Hotel.
The event will benefit the UCOF Charity Care Program-Soweto Hospice, South Africa (www.unitedcolorsoffashion.com) and the Bisila Bokoko African Literacy Project (www.bbalp.org).
United Colors of Fashion, which hand picks designers with that certain something, has prudently selected five unique and tractioned fashion icons from different parts of the world to come to NY for their collective show: Oliver Tolentino (Philippines, now LA-based), Amparo Chorda (Spain), Louda Larrain (Russia, now NY-based), Eric Raisina (Cambodia), and David Tlale (South Africa). Each designer will present twelve looks for the show.
“The UCOF project is as much about the means as the end. It is imperative for us to select designers with a vision and that organic sense of craftsmanship. This should be at once a humbling experience and an elite event for our guests, who will range from celebrated notables to people on the road to greatness. Everyone in attendance will be somebody to watch going forward, I can tell you that!” said Ciano Clerjuste, Chairman and President of UCOF.
One of Australia´s most sought after artists, and current lead actress in “Mamma Mia” on Broadway, Kaaye Tuckerman, is the Chief Ambassador for UCOF.
Celebrity stylist, Kimberly Garrett, will fill the role of Honorary Chair and Stylist for the evening.
“We are pleased that Kimberly has accepted our invitation and feel the organization’s interests in promoting an artful high fashion event that aims to address issues related to healthcare and literacy in the developing world are well served by this association.”, said Veronica Rovegno, UCOF Founding Partner, Vice President & Director of Marketing.
The soiree will commence in the Cocktail Room at the Pierre at 6:00 PM with a Gala Reception, Silent Auction, and live music performed by Gretchen Parlato – said to have “a deep, almost magical connection to the music” by pianist and composer Herbie Hancock.
Following the reception, guests will be ushered in style to their seating in the Grand Ballroom for the collective show, which is scheduled to start at 8:00PM.
After the show, guests are invited to attend an after party at Millesime at the Carlton Hotel from 10:00PM to 2:00AM.
On Saturday, September 10th, starting at 10:00 AM, the organization will be hosting a Trunk Show at Millesime. The Saturday event will be open to anyone who wishes to purchase clothes from the designers.
The Pierre New York is located at 2 East 61st Street at Fifth Avenue. The hotel is conveniently located across from Central Park, and just a few walking blocks from Lincoln Center´s Damrosch Park.
This event is sponsored by Rumba Time, Plush Fashion Styling, Jerry Lopez New York, Hair And The City, Victor Cucart and DP Photo.
